Donald Gene Summers died Jan. 12, 2014 in Okemah at the age of 79. He was born January 30, 1934 in Henryetta to Curtis B. Summers and Estelle Lillian (Pickle) Summers. He was a 1953 graduate of Henryetta High School and had been a resident of Okemah since 1994. He and Cookie Parker were married February 13, 1976 in Okmulgee. He had worked 21 years as a supervisor in oilfields and three years with Kwikset. He served his country with the United States Army and was a member of the First Christian Church of Okemah.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary and two brothers, Dale and Danny.
Survivors include his wife Cookie Summers of Okemah; one son, Wesley Summers and wife Marivae of Checotah; one daughter, Brenda Bible and husband Lewis of Henryetta; three grandchildren, Jenny Honeycutt of Dewar, Mandy Loyd of Dewar and Dakota Summers of Checotah and three great-grandchildren, Braxton Loyd of Dewar, Garrett Loyd of Dewar and Jake King also of Dewar.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with Rev. Jackie Vance officiating.
