A four-block area around a house on South Fourth Street was cleared Monday afternoon when a cache of dynamite was found.
Officers from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) along with the OHP bomb squad and other law enforcement served a search warrant on the home following an explosion early Monday morning that severely injured a man.
The explosion took place west of Henryetta on the Okmulgee-Okfuskee county line. Emergency personnel treated the man for severe injuries to his hand and body then he was flown to a Tulsa hospital. No word on his condition has been given. His name has not been released.
The victim's mother was detailed by Tulsa bomb squad officers and that led to the Henryetta investigation.
One ATF officer said a, "pretty substantial" amount of materials had been found. He would not elaborate.
That explosion led officers to the house located between Moore and Ragan. They served the search warrant around 2 p.m.then called in a bomb-sniffing dog.
That is when the cache of dynamite, said to be in a dangerous condition was found.
Henryetta police and fire department units cordoned off the area and evacuated city hall.
