This weekend the disc golf course at Nichols Park is going to be busy for the Oklahoma State Championship.
Jason Schwake, the tournament director said by mid-week nearly 150 people have registered for the Saturday and Sunday tournament. They come from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and even from California and Minnesota.disc golf
The tournament will be open to professional, intermediate, amateur, recreational and junior divisions with both men and women playing.
One of the top players in the tournament will be Coda Hatfield from Norman. He has earned over $125,000 in his professional career.
The youngest player will be Hayden Duncan in the under 15 competition. The Piedmont golfer played first in the Oklahoma Open earlier this month and won first in the July Bartlesville tournament.
“You have got a great course here,” Schwake said this past weekend. “It has a lot of holes that will be challenging for the best players.
The course was designed and laid out by Joshua Craig over the past 14 years. The first tournament was held last year with nearly 200 players competing in the single-day event.
