The Henryetta Chamber of Commerce finished out 2020 with selection of new board members as well as Vice President and treasurer Monday.
At the December meeting, Shawn Okerson was unanimously named as incoming vice-president and Donnie Smith re elected to the treasurer’s position.
Smith, Jill Francis Bruce Jones and Billie Been were selected as new board members. They will serve until 2023.
Jeremy Roberts and Ashley Morris were chosen to sit on the chamber executive committee for the coming year.
This year, due to the pandemic, plans for the annual chamber banquet were modified.
Instead of a catered meal as well as silent auction and speaker, the organization is looking at a smaller gathering that would allow for various awards and recognitions including the annual Henryettan of the Year. Tentative plans call for it to be in February at The Briefcase.
The idea of resurrecting Dee Boone Days was discussed. That celebration was held for a number of years before becoming inactive. Preliminary discussion centered around holding it in October, 2021. More research is going to be conducted into the event.
The celebration recognizes long-time Henryetta resident and Blacksmith Dee Boone. During his life here, he became famous for his hand-forged creations including a scaled up working pistol as well as knives and spurs that are still being sought after by collectors world-wide.
