December business in Henryetta was up and the city is reaping the benefits from that this month.
The February check from the Oklahoma Tax Commission amounted to $272,789, a $52,474 increase from the same month a year ago.
The numbers are based on local tax receipts from business from December 16 to 31 and estimated sales from January 1 through January 15.
That increase follows on the heels of a $30,188 decline in sales tax revenue last month. January was the exception with the two reporting increases each month from May through December of last year.
If that trend continues, Henryetta will be on track to have another record-breaking fiscal year in collections.
The town operates on a July 1 through June 30 basis. Last fiscal year covered July 2019 through June 2020 and the total receipts amounted to $2,180,193. The year before saw Henryetta receive $2,804,273.
Use tax revenue returned to the town this month amounted to $45,173, an increase from the $36,137 collected a year ago and was the ninth consecutive month of increases.
Those gains were also reported by communities around the area from the previous year. They include:
Dewar, $18,748, a $5,575 increase.
Beggs, $44,339, up $9,815.
Morris, $22,246, a gain of $4,404.
Okmulgee, $603,915, an increase of $60,241.
Okemah, $106,914, a drop of $1,430.
Weleetka, $17,918, a gain of $4,347.
Dustin, $7,604, $4,216 increase.
Hanna $1,297, up $466.
Checotah $409,492, up $36,407.
Statewide, $166,192,753 went to cities and towns, an increase of $3,588,555 from the $162,604,198 distributed to the cities and towns in February last year.
