Just over 100 voters approved the Public Service franchise question Tuesday.
A total of 121 votes were cast in the special election allowing Public service to keep using city streets and alleys and supplying the town with electricity for the next 25 years.
The actual vote was 108 in favor and 13 opposed.
The low turnout saw no votes cast in the Dewar town hall, Schulter Community Center and Wilson school ballot boxes.
In the other five precincts, the question carried easily. The closest count came at the civic center box with 37 voters in favor and ten against.
At the American Legion, 14 people voted for and one against. The Housing Authority was a shutout with seven yes votes and none opposing. Another shutout win was at St. Michaels where 23 people voted for the question with no votes cast against it. First Methodist church voters went 27 for and two against.
