Okemah Chapter of DAR
The Okemah Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution met October 19 at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah. Hostesses for the meeting were Ann Jackson and Sheldon Starr.
Regent Rebecca Hold opened the meeting and led the opening ritual, the flag salute, The American’s Creed, the Preamble to the Constitution, and the National Anthem.
Members wished Yvonne Sowder, Carol Musick, Shelly Harris, Merideth Ann Musick, and Amber Ott happy birthdays. Amber Ott was celebrating her 97th birthday, so members sang her a rousing rendition of the birthday song! Amber Ott introduced her guest, her daughter, Sandra Gonzales from Portland, Oregon. DAR oct
Becky Hold presented the President General’s Message, Judith Drennan the National Defense Report, Ann Jackson the Conservation Minute, Sheldon Starr the Constitution Minute, and Becky Hold the Flag Moment, “Old Glory.”
Members were urged to turn in their “Service to America” hours and after the usual order of business, the tickets for door prizes were drawn. Patricia Funchess and Becky Hold won the door prizes. The meeting was adjourned with the benediction by Ann Jackson.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah. Becky Hold will be the hostess and she will also give the program, “An Act of Remembrance.”
