Black smoke billowed from a controlled burn at Nichols Park Thursday morning. City crews along with Henryetta firemen were on hand to burn off much of the underbrush and debris that has accumulated over the years. Usually held every year, most of the park had not been cleared in the past two years. Cty workers concentrated on the north side of the park in an area that has been allowed to grow over for nearly a decade.
