The golf season ended for the HHS Lady Knights with a fourth place finish at Ardmore.
Henryetta posted a 786 team score, three strokes out of third in a tournament that began with a shotgun start due to weather issues.
Senior Skylar Smallwood turned in the best round with a 179 that gave her third place in the individual ranks. It also had her named to the East All-State golf team.
Another senior, Lottie Johnson had back to back 97 rounds while Skylar Morris shot 200, Brea Stockholm had a 213 and Mabrey Been came in with 223.
“It didn’t turn out like would would have liked,” said coach Dutch Vandenborn, “but a fourth place finish only three strokes from a medal is moving in the right direction for our program.”
He said this year’s team is one of the best he has had the pleasure of coaching in all his years in Henryetta.
“Overall our seniors, have been part of a seven-year journey from sixth grade to now that led to par of more team championships than any other girls team in school history,” the coach added.
He pointed out the two juniors, Morris and Been, as well as two freshmen, Stockholm and Abby Pemberton, makes the future of HHS golf, “pretty bright going forward.”
