Even though the monthly difference was lower, Henryetta finished up the fiscal year well ahead in sales tax revenue.
The June sales tax disbursement from the state amounted to $270,342.82 this year, a $20.015.54 drop from a year ago. That money still gave the city a total of $3,365,557 in revenue for the 2021-22 fiscal year. It was an increase of $224,085 from the 2020-21 fiscal year.
Contrasting that, the use tax revenue to the city was up nearly $3,000 amounting to $38,278.72 to this year compared to $35,586.61 at the same time last year. The use tax is generated by purchases outside of the state.
That money represents sales from April 16 to 30 and estimated sales from May 1 to May 15.
An anticipated jump in sales tax revenue is expected to be seen next month when sales from the newly-opened QuikTrip store are shown. QuikTrip opened April 28 so only two days of actual sales and an estimated two weeks of sales were recorded.
Okmulgee County’s share of the sales tax revenue also took a drop this past month. The county received $472,167 compared to $474,451 a year ago.
Around the area most communities reported a gain in sales tax revenue. Declines were reported in Checotah, Eufaula and Weleetka.
