| Henryetta has a representative at the National Unity Conference in Washington, D.C. this week. Maddie Gouge, daughter of Geebon and Jenna Gouge, was in her official role of Junior Miss Muscogee Creek Nation at the five-day conference that started Friday and will end Tuesday. More than 1,000 Native American youth make up the conference with members of the various Native American tribe across America. Even though the conference officially started Friday, First Lady Michelle Obama addressed the group at the Renaissance hotel. The gathering was organized through a partnership between the United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY), The White House, National Congress of American Indians, Today's Native Leaders, Department of Health & Human Services, and Department of Justice. |
