If you or a loved one have been effected by cancer you should care about what happened on Capitol Hill last week. That’s when 344 Members of Congress, including Congressman MarkWayne Mullin came together to vote in support of a bill that would increase medical research funding by $1.75 billion a year over the next five years.
This additional research funding is critical if we are to stem the tide of scientists leaving cancer research because they can’t fund their work.  Funding for medical research has declined by more than 20 percent over the last decade, leaving potentially life-saving research sitting in test tubes and scientists seeking other jobs.
The money passed in this bill would go to help fund critical clinical trials that could result in new cancer treatments. Something that should be important to everyone when you consider cancer strikes 1 in 2 American men and 1 in 3 women in this country.
Investing in medical research today is absolutely necessary if we are to develop the improved treatments of tomorrow. Cancer used to almost always result in death. Now there are more than 14 million cancer survivors in America today, including me/my…
Thank you Congressman Mullin,  for your vote in support of this life-saving legislation.
