Despite the snow outside, the Knights kept the Eufaula gym hot Tuesday afternoon as they battled to a 64-61 win.
The boys and girls games were played during the afternoon due to the snowstorm that started in earnest about the time the final buzzer sounded.
Henryetta's girls fell behind in the opening game in the first quarter and were unable to make up ground as they lost 39-20. The Lady Knights old put five points on the board in the opening frame then failed to get the ball in the basket in the second to trail 22-5 at the half. They outscored the Lady Ironheads with ten points compared to four in the third period but Eufaula put a dozen on the board in the fourth compared to seven for Henryetta.
Kassedi Lee led the Henryetta scoring with nine followed by Makayla Greenhaw with six, Brooklyn Baughman, five and Grace Lollis two.
The boys game had the Knights in the lead for three of the four quarters then the Ironheads charged back with a series of three-point field goals. Three times during the final period the score was tied then Skylar Greenhaw went to the free throw line twice to give the Knights hope for the win.
Greenhaw would get 19 points during the game, with five of seven attempts from the charity line in the fourth period.
As the clock ticked down with 34 seconds left, he sank his final two then Nick Hudson was fouled with 16 seconds. He hit one of his two free throws for the Knights final tally to lead 64-61. Eufaula burned up the rest of the time trying to get back to back three point goals but ran out of time giving Henryetta the win.
Hudson put in 17 points toward the Henryetta score with Jordan Short contributing eight, Will Perez and Ethan Palmer getting six each, Hunter Robin picking up five and Jacob Nail three.
