This year Henryetta voters will have a lot to choose from in the April 4 city election.
Eight people have put their names down for the two ward seats that are open. To ensure voters are familiar with the candidates, the chamber will be hosting two candidate forums in March. The first will be March 6 and the second March 9. Both will start at 7 p.m. at the Henryetta civic center.
"We are going to hold the forums over two days to make sure all candidates have time to tell their story," said chamber president Jeremy Roberts.
The March 6 session will be for the four candidate for ward 1. They include: Bill Goodner, Steve Sanford, Annette Sisson and Greg Williams.
Ward 2 candidates are being invited to the March 9 forum. Those candidates are Christy Jeffcoat, Shawn Buzan, Melissa Heminover and Vernon Vanmeter.
The forums will give each candidate three minutes to tell about themselves then a series of questions dealing with city government asked to each.
The forum will be moderated by chamber interim executive director Bruce Jones. It will be video recorded and shown on Thehenryettan.com as well as on the chamber Facebook page.
The public is invited to attend.
"We want to make sure Henryetta continues to grow in the years ahead," Roberts said. "That's why it is important to have the right people serving on our city council."
