Montie Broome, a former resident of Henryetta now in Afton, died March 22, 2023 at the age of 79. He was born Jan. 9, 1944 in Tulsa to Montie and Evelyn (Reid) Broome. 
Montie was preceded in death by his father Montie Issac and loving mother Evelyn; one son Larry Brian Smith.
Montie is survived by his wife Carol of the home; sons: Montie Jr. (Allison) Kyle, TX, Keith Smith (Shelby) Atoka, Dennis Smith (Michelle) Henryetta; sister Delilah Siegenthaler (Ron) Tulsa,, Michelle Stremme Henryetta; Mother-in-law Blanche Adams; brothers-in-law Logan Alsup (Jennifer), Greg Alsup (Gail), Chad Adams (Tracy); sister-in-law EG Bennett; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Montie graduated from Henryetta High School in 1962. As an adult he coached youth football and baseball. Montie attended Conners Junior College where he played basketball and later graduated from NSU.
Montie was employed by Frisco Railroad( BNSF Railway), he was a switchman/brakeman retiring as a Trainmaster in 2004 after 34 years of service.
Visitation with the family present will be Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials can be made to the Henryetta Athletic Fund c/o Rogers Funeral Home, 1302 W Main St, Henryetta.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
