The two quakes were located about a half mile apart. The first quake was said to have originated nearly 3 and a half miles deep. The second one was much shallower, reported to be only two miles from the surface. Because of the shallow depth, the force of the second quake was felt over a wider area.
Those two quakes were the latest of six total tremors in the region since Saturday. Prior to the Monday event, the largest was a 3.9 Saturday while a 2.9 quake was said to have been the smallest.
