feed children logoThe summer Feed the Kids program ended Friday with a lot of fun and even some free gifts.
Backpacks loaded with some of the items the children will need for school were provided free of charge.
The program started in June and ran until the end of July. By the time the final lunch was served, over 3,000 meals had been provided to youngsters at the nine sites in Henryetta and Dewar.
Jeff Williamson, coordinator of the program, said the two months of food and activities were so well received that he is already planning to expand the program next year.
Meals were served at: McCutcheon Park, the Nazarene playground, Henryetta Housing Authority, Dewar Baptist church and at New Lake Village.
Churches involved include the First United Methodist, First  Christian, Immanuel Baptist, First Baptist, Dewar Baptist, Eagle Heights and Henryetta Church of the Nazarene.
