ohp logoA Weleetka man was flown to a Tulsa hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in a crash shortly after midnight Monday morning.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Virgil Pigeon, 54, Weleetka, received head, internal and external injuries in the crash four miles east of Weleetka.
The accident was said to have occurred when a 2007 Chevrolet driven by William Britt, 55, Henryetta, was eastbound on SH 84 and apparently went left of the centerline. Investigating Trooper Daniel Martin said Britt's vehicle struck the drivers side of the westbound 2002 Ford truck driven by Pigeon.
After the crash, the Ford went off the road and rolled over one time. Pigeon was pinned in the vehicle for about 30 minutes. He was freed by the Weleetka fire department. He was flown by Lift Flight to St. Francis in Tulsa listed in critical condition.
A passenger in his truck, JoAnn Pigeon, 55, Weleetka, was treated and released for injuries.
