Glen Akins obituary
Glendon Leo Akins, Sr., a longtime resident of the Coalton community, died Oct. 30, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 91. Glen was born June 5, 1921 in Quinton to Richard Akins and Minnie (Walker) Akins.
He was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Army. He married Theresa E. Macaluso June 13, 1942 in Okmulgee. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Minnie Akins, also by one son Carl Akins.
He is survived his wife, Theresa E. Akins of the home; two sons: Glendon L. Akins, Jr., and wife Donna of Jacksonville, Fla. and Bill Akins and wife Robin of Glenpool; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Verlene Orum of Henryetta; three brothers, Robert Akins of Houston, Texas, Jerry Akins and wife Kay of Cushing and Jim Akins and wife Debbie of Jenks; also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
A Mass of Resurrection is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Peter Phung, officiating. Entombment will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 51st and Memorial, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Services are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service.
