Henryetta: Located at 408 W. Main Street in Henryetta, Bee’s Knees Vintage has quickly become a beloved destination for vintage enthusiasts since opening its doors in September 2022.
Founded by Cynthia and Nathan Simonds, the store has established itself as a treasure trove of unique finds, offering everything from vintage Pyrex and Fiesta ware to rare collectibles, pottery, and home décor. It’s no surprise that Bee’s Knees Vintage has earned a reputation as a “honey hole” for those seeking neato vintage pieces that span from deco to disco.
Bee’s Knees Vintage isn’t just a store; it’s a passion project that brings the joy of nostalgia into people’s lives. Cynthia and Nathan have meticulously curated their collection to evoke memories and spark happiness, believing in the power of cherished items to warm the heart and inspire joy. Their dedication to this mission is evident in every item they offer, from vintage dishware to Coca-Cola collectibles, vintage camping gear, art, jewelry, and much more.
One of the store’s most notable achievements is reviving the Oklahoma Pyrex Swap, an event that hadn’t been held in years. In February 2024, Bee’s Knees Vintage organized the swap at The Briefcase, attracting vendors and shoppers from across Oklahoma and neighboring states. The event was a tremendous success, bringing significant traffic to Henryetta’s Main Street and boosting business for local stores and restaurants. The swap was such a hit that a fall edition is already planned for September 28th, promising to continue shining a spotlight on Henryetta and its vibrant downtown.
The store’s growth hasn’t been without challenges. As Cynthia balances her full-time corporate job as Chief Administrative Officer for a Federal Advocacy organization with running Bee’s Knees Vintage, the demands are intense. However, her store serves as a creative outlet and stress reliever, driving her to overcome obstacles and keep growing the business. Social media has played a crucial role in this growth, with platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram helping to attract new customers and increase foot traffic to the store.
The success of Bee’s Knees Vintage is a family affair. Cynthia’s husband, Nathan, and their youngest daughter, Olivia, have been integral to the store’s operations. Olivia, in particular, was the driving force behind opening the store, pushing Cynthia to turn her dream into reality. With their support, Cynthia has created a thriving business that brings joy to the community and visitors alike.
Looking to the future, Cynthia dreams of one day owning and operating a large antique mall full-time. While the idea of transforming a 25,000-square-foot department store into a bustling marketplace excites her, she’s mindful of the risks involved and is content to continue growing Bee’s Knees Vintage for now.
What makes Bee’s Knees Vintage truly unique is its deep connection to the idea of nostalgia—something deeply personal and unique to each individual. In a town with multiple antique stores, Bee’s Knees Vintage stands out for its ever-evolving inventory and its status as a must-visit destination for Pyrex enthusiasts, offering the deepest selection of vintage Pyrex in Oklahoma.
The store’s impact extends beyond its walls. Bee’s Knees Vintage contributes to Henryetta’s local economy, drawing travelers to explore, shop, and dine at other nearby businesses. Cynthia and Nathan’s commitment to the community is evident in their support of local events and their efforts to create a lively, welcoming atmosphere on Main Street.
In every way, Bee’s Knees Vintage is a labor of love that reflects the Simonds family’s dedication to the people and town of Henryetta. Their store is not just a business; it’s a testament to the power of passion, nostalgia, and community spirit, and it continues to make a positive impact on the growth and vitality of Henryetta.
