Henryetta city council members approved the purchase of a 2017 Dodge Charger from the Missouri highway patrol Tuesday.
The decision was made at a special meeting at noon that also saw a proposal from Benefit Strategies for insurance coverage for city employees for the coming year.
The patrol car is going to replace a vehicle that sustained major damage after a pursuit earlier this month. During the chase, the car crossed a ditch that seriously impacted the engine compartment. Insurance paid $10,500 for the wrecked car with the city making up the difference. The former Missouri highway patrol car is being sold for $16,900 but does have a warranty.
On the insurance question, council members elected to go with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Coverage will take effect June 1, 2019.
