Henryetta senior Daisy VanMeter is going to be defending her state cross country title again this year.
3a winnersShe placed first in the 3A regional run at Nichols Park Saturday then caught her breath as her teammates provided the times that gave the HHS girls third place overall. That means the entire team will be going to the state championship.
VanMeter finished the course in 12 minutes, five seconds. That was over a half-minute ahead of Vian's Mykala Rich who came in second. Prague's Miranda Opela was third with 12:55.3. The Prague team would wind up taking home the first place trophy.
For Henryetta, Mya Powders claimed fifth followed by Kaitlyn Clark, 20ht, Holy Stuard, 41st, Caprice Graham 64th and Brianna Counts, 78th.
Henryetta's boys placed fourth and will not be going to the state meet.
The best the Knights could do was tenth place by Mason martin with a time of 18:40.9 Brayden Smithson was 19th, Pepper Logan, 20th, Garett Witt, 36th, Nick Pak, 42nd, Jordan Knox 48th and Bailey Graffman, 59th.
