One person was arrested in Sapulpa and charged with the murder of Beggs resident Becky Hamilton last month.
Jacob SwiftJacob Swift was said to have confessed to the crime after he was arrested by members of the District 25 violent crime task, Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Department, United States Marshals Service, and Investigators with the Creek County Sheriff’s Department.
According to district attorney Rob Barris, officers served Swift with two arrest warrants for probation violations at a home in Sapulpa.
After he was arrested, a search warrant was issued and methamphetamines, two guns, and a large amount of stolen property from Tulsa County, Creek County, and Okmulgee County was located.
Barris said a woman at that Sapulpa home was interviewed and said Swift was in Beggs the night Hamilton was killed.
Officers questioned Swift who confessed to burglarizing Hamilton’s residence and being there when Becky Hamilton arrived home. Swift told investigators that he did not know Hamilton and had never met her before. Swift stated that he felt trapped and fired shots towards her direction to be able to escape the residence. After Swift’s confession, he was booked into the Creek County Jail on numerous charges including an Okmulgee County Hold for Murder in the First Degree. Items taken from the Becky Hamilton burglary were located inside Swift’s residence.
Officers also got information that led them to another Sapulpa home to serve a warrant to Justin Felix and look for a gun possibly used in the Beggs murder. At this residence, Investigators located trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and a loaded shotgun. Felix was taken into custody.
The District 25 violent crime task, United States Marshals Service, Investigators with the Creek County Sheriff’s Department and Officers with the Tulsa Police Department went to a home in Tulsa where two men and a woman were taken into custody. At the house, four firearms, undisclosed amount of money, and trafficking amounts of methamphetamine were seized. One of the guns was said to be a 9mm pistol that may have been used in some crimes.
During the investigation, over a dozen officers from approximately 7 different agencies have spent numerous hours investigating this crime. A total of 10 Search Warrants have been executed and over 70 interviews have been conducted.
