Students at Wilson school got an early break from classes Monday when a bomb threat was called into the school.
wilson superSuperintendent Andrea James said the high school received a call around 11:40 Monday morning stating there was a bomb in the school building.
"All the kids were evacuated in about five minutes," James said. The over 200 students and staff members were put on busses and originally taken to a parking area about a half-mile north of the school. They were transferred to the Indian community center and stayed indoors. Parents were called and told they could pick up their children.
The Oklahoma Highway patrol brought in specially-trained dogs who went through the entire building. It was declared safe around 4 Monday afternoon.
As a precaution, Wilson Road from the cemetery to a half-mile north of the school was closed off.
James said the school phone system does have caller identification and officials will be going through call records to trace the call in an effort to find the culprit.
She said training is held to give students and teachers the knowledge in how to handle such emergencies. Such a drill was held just last week.
The school holds classes four days a week and the loss of one day's class time has an affect on the students, the superintendent said.
