Area residents are being invited to participate in a course in firearms marksmanship.
shootingThe one-day course is designed to teach people how to handle firearms safely and accurately in self-defense situations.
"We will have certified firearms instructors working closely with those attending," said Henryetta police chief Steve Norman. He said the class size will be limited to 36 people which will be broken into groups of four people with one instructor.
"This is going to be a lot of shooting instead of classroom situations. Students will be in self-defense situations and learn how to survivor those encounters."
The cost of the course is going to run between $60 to $80 per person.
"Right now we are wanting to know if there is sufficient interest in the class," Norman said. "If enough people want to attend, we will schedule the course at the shooting range at Nichols Park."
He said anyone interested should contact him or the Henryetta police department.
