Okmulgee County district court jurors handed down over 60 years in prison sentences at the conclusion of three separate trials this past week.
The longest sentence, 55 years, was meted out to Joe Dewayne Fitzer on a charge of domestic violence after a former felony conviction. Fitzer is from Okmulgee.
Jurors found Lee Everett McCoy guilty on a charge of assault and battery upon a correctional officer. That came from a fight in the Okmulgee County jail in September 2014. He was sentenced to 54 months in prison.
The third prison sentence followed a guilty verdict against James McKinley Reagor, jr. The morris man was convicted of two separate felony charges, possession of a stolen vehicle and endangering others while attempting to elude police. He was sentenced to two years in prison and a $2,000 fine for the stolen vehicle and three years on the felony eluding charge.
District attorney Rob Barris said he appreciated the diligence shown by the jurors in the cases. “I am grateful to the jurors who served in these cases and the attention and time they gave to rendering justice in these cases. A perfect trial conviction rate for this docket is due to the hard work and outstanding performance of our staff."
