Members of the Henryetta fourth grade were busy staking out a parcel of land for their very own Wednesday morning.
land run tnThe annual land run marks the anniversary of the April 22, 1889 rush that settled a large part of the center of Oklahoma.
Students reenacted the rush with their home made covered wagons and many even dressed the part of 19th century settlers.
Once the students selected their piece of property, they marked their boundaries and filed claims with the school.
This year, a new twist to the story was added with some of the fourth graders providing a history lesson about the various Indian tribes that were already in the state. Some of the students dressed as Native Americans and used props including home made rattles used in native dances.
