Christopher Jason Baumann is taking his desire to be Okmulgee County heriff to the state Supreme Court.
Baumann had filed as a candidate for sheriff April 14 but incumbent sheriff Eddy Rice said he had not lived in the county the prescribed six months prior filing.
The Okmulgee County election board sided with the sheriff even though Baumann presented tax returns and several utility bills and a voters ID card as evidence to the contrary.
He claims sheriff Rice violated the law during the hearing by introducing information from the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (OLETS) from Baumann's drivers license.
Information from OLETS is supposed to be used only within law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, claims Baumann.
He is asking the state Supreme court to intervene and have his name added to the ballots for the November 8 election.
