David B. Lewis, Jr., a longtime resident of the Henryetta area, died Feb. 8, 2015 at the age of 81. David was born zNov. 2, 1933 in Henryetta to Rev. David B. Lewis, Sr. and Sally Jacobs Lewis.
David grew up in the Henryetta area, eventually moving away for boarding school. Following boarding school, David served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Lillie Mae Gipson on March 2, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They remained happily married for 57 years.
He worked most of his adult life as a machinist including over 10 years with Potomoc Corporation in Ft. Worth, Tex. David served the Creek Nation as a National Councilman for 13 years, before retiring for medical reasons. David was a longtime resident of Eufaula in his later years and was a member of the West Eufaula Indian Baptist Church.
David is preceded in death by his mother and father; and two daughters, Sharon Lewis Harjo and Patricia Lewis.
He is survived by his wife Lillie Mae Lewis of the home; two sons, Ronnie Lewis of Henryetta and Richard Lewis of Ada; a daughter, Diane Jobe of Edmond; six Grandchildren, Jordan Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Jefferey Lewis, Richay Brennan, Gloria Jobe, and Krystle Dawn Lewis; two great grandchildren, Quinton Buck and Aiden Prather; by two sisters and many, many good friends.
Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m..
A funeral service of David will be held hursday, February 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. with Rev. Wallace Gambler officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lewis, Richard Lewis, Jordan Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Jefferey Lewis, and Rowdy Prather. Phillip Williams will be an honorary pallbearer.
