Christine Minyard, a resident of Henryetta, died July 27, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 74. She was born March 11, 1942 in Weleetka to Melvin and Pauline (Winn) Williams. She taught school in Ryal and Henryetta, retiring after 33 years and was awarded Okmulgee County Teacher of the Year. Christine attended the Salem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was the Vacation Bible School Director. She served as Chairman of the Okmulgee County Democratic Party and a delegate in 1992 to the Clinton nomination in New York and alternate delegate at the 1988 convention in Atlanta. She also served as secretary treasurer to the Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Board.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband Tony Minyard and her parents.
She is survived by her son Terry Minyard and wife Debbie of Tulsa; grandsons: Cody Minyard of Tulsa/Norman, Seth Minyard of Tulsa and Tyler Wieland of Henryetta; great grandson: Tyson Wieland of Henryetta; siblings: Jeryl Williams of Florida, Glenn Williams of Savanna, GA, Hank Williams of Graham, Shirley Thomas of Salem, Phillip Williams of Graham and Wendell Williams of Graham.
The family will be receiving friends Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 at the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Wolf, officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
