Billy T. Armstrong, a resident of Checotah, died July 29, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 75. Billy was born Feb. 28, 1941 in Vaiden, MIssissippi to Warren Milford Armstrong and Johnnie Mae Downs Armstrong. Billy grew up in MIssissippi and attended school there.
Following high school, Billy enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for several years before his honorable discharge. Billy moved to Oklahoma in 1976 and began working at Midland Glass Company. He later worked for Anchor Glass in Henryetta until his retirement in 2002. He was active in his local union, GND local 48 throughout his career. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Checotah. Billy married the love of his life, Doris Jean Fraser on April 4, 1980 in Henryetta.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Billy is survived by his wife, Doris Armstrong of the home in Checotah; two sisters, Gloria Jean Crawford and husband Wayne of Dustin and Effie Adella Seward and husband Steven of Jackson, Mississippi; a son, Anthony "Tony" Dunn and wife Kristi of Henryetta; a daughter, Tammy Harmon of Dustin; 6 grandchildren, Chad Dunn of Oklahoma City, Zack Dunn of Henryetta, Tyler Dunn of Henryetta, Dylan Harmon of Henryetta, Logan Harmon of Dustin, and Josh Harmon of Dustin; very special great grandchildren, Lexi and Liam Harmon; a nephew, Colton Crawford of Dustin; and a niece and best friend, Shawn Howell and husband Mickey of Morris; by other extended family and many good friends.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
