The First Family Federal Credit Union Labor Day car and bike show has grown to record proportions this year.
Over 100 entries, filled up the parking lot onEast Main causing organizers to start planning for next year and an even larger turnout.
"We are proud of the way the show has developed," said Staci Alsover, marketing director for FFFCU. "This year we had 107 entries. That is 17 more than last year and we think even more will be on hand next September." The show is four years old.
A 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle owned by Kenneth Horn from Mansfield, Ark., was a double winner at the show. Not only did his car capture the Best of Show award but it was also voted tops for the People's Choice trophy.
The 2000 Harley Davidson Spring Softail owned by Ray Thompson netted the People's Choice award while Wesley Carr's 2001 Harley sportster was named Best of Show.
In the Fab Five competition, the winners included:
A 1976 Chevrolet Costworth Vega owned by Marla Hewett, Jennings, Okla.
1967 Pontiac GTO by Chris Fletcher of Bixby and a 1960 Oldsmobile Dynamic 99 by Christine fletch, Bixby.
The 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle owned by randy and Chris Mason of Glenpool and a 1985 Ford LTD owned by Garrett Files, Claremore.
Car owners and spectators were not the only ones to benefit from the car show.
Some $800 in donations was raised for the Children’s Miracle Network (St. Francis Children’s Hospital) and Purple Heart Homes supporting disabled veterans.
