A day and night of family activities and worship starts Friday at Nichols Park.
James Page, founder of Joy In Life Ministries and a Henryetta resident, has been busy setting up the stage as well as a 60 by 90-foot tent on the north side of the park.page
“The show will start at 5 p.m. with some gospel music from several musical groups and individuals including local and area residents Wesley VanMeter, Gebon Gouge and the Page family.”
He said veterans and emergency providers including fire and police, will be honored at a 6:30 p.m. ceremony with American flags presented to each one.
A number of family-oriented activities will be set up including petting zoo, bounce houses and even inflatable gerbil balls for people to enjoy.
Kicking off the evening’s performance will be the J.J. Weeks band from Macon, Georgia followed by more musical entertainment.
tentPage said he started with the project last March, getting approval from the city and coordinating the various acts.
“If this is successful, we will be doing it again next spring.”
