Dewar high school 2016 graduate Logan McGowin received a special Christmas present this past week in the form of a $1,000 scholarship from American Exchange Bank.
Logan McGowinMcGowin is a student at OSUIT in Okmulgee majoring in technology instrumentation. The $1,000 will be for the spring semester of studies. He is the son of Gary and Bertha McGowin and brother to Luke and Levi.
“The scholarship requires recipients work at AEB during the summer months, which McGowin did,” said AEB president Terri Thompson. He continues to work at AEB while in school and said he loves getting to know the customers.
The AEB Scholarship and Internship is awarded to one senior each year in the area. McGowin was the first recipient of this scholarship. The scholarship is $1,000 per semester for four years of college education as long as the degree is business related and the student keeps a grade point average of 3.0 and is enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester. Each recipient is required to work at AEB in the summer months as a paid intern in order to continue receiving the scholarship each semester.
“We are very happy to offer our new scholarship with an internship to our area seniors,” Thompson said. “Introducing bank office skills to a student is very fulfilling.”
