Even though the Oklahoma storm season is still a couple of months away, amateur radio operators and the Okmulgee County Emergency Operations Center are getting prepared.
A Ham Radio Meet and Greet will be held at the Okmulgee County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Feb. 11 at 9 a.m.
According to Okmulgee County Emergency Operations Center manager Tim Creighton, the session will include a short presentation as well as a tour of the EOC communications room.
Amateur radio operators are called upon to help coordinate rescue operations in the event of a tornado or serious storm.
“We have some new amateur radio operators in Okmulgee County and we would like to have everyone, both seasoned & new hams, come by for morning of coffee and conversation,” Creighton said.
The EOC is located at 110 North Alabama Avenue in Okmulgee.
