John T. Morris, a resident of Dewar, died Jan. 30, 2017 in Henryetta at the age of 85. He was born Aug. 26, 1931 in Henryetta to John Morris and Verda (Jarnegan) Morris.
John married Merle Jean Ritter on December 19, 1968 in Dewar. He was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church.
John worked for many years as the manager of the Henryetta Daily Freelance and manager for KHEN. He sang in various quartets including the Rainbow Quartet, The Henryettan's and had the Genesis Quartet for 12 years. He also worked for many years as an insurance retiring from Prudential Life Insurance Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Morris.
He is survived by his wife Merle Jean Morris of the home; four children: Dennis Morris and wife Mary Beth of Henryetta, Terry Morris and wife Debi of Henryetta, Michelle Winn and husband Roger of Morris and Donna Fields and husband Harvey of Jenks; eight grandchildren: Kristen Averie Long, Randy Morris, Mollie Lilly, John David Cowan, Sarah Stockholm, Allison Palmer, Kyle Morris and Ambria Winn; 15 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, brother: Don "Tootie" Morris of Henryetta; sister: Phyllis Luensmann of Texas; as well as a host friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be Thursday at Integrity Funeral Service from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be David Long, Kyle Morris, Randy Morris, John David Cowan, Brandon Long, and Justin Long.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
