For years, landowners have been using fire as one means to control overgrowth on their pastures.
That use is the subject of state legislation and proposed national environmental policy and will be the topic at a meeting March 3.
The Okmulgee Prescribed Fire Association will meet at 7 p.m. March 3 at the county fairgrounds.
"The Association encourages the use of prescribed fire by educating, training and supporting its use," said Ron Goedecke.
He went on to say anyone interested in those proposed rules should come to the meeting.
The group is comprised of local land managers and educators to apply fire on the land.
It is open to the public and anyone wishing more information should contact the Okmulgee County Conservation District at 918-759-2011.
