Gerald Deen Morris, a resident of Okmulgee, died Feb. 5, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 86. Gerald was born Dec. 24, 1930 in Paris, Ark., to Austin Theodore "A.T." Morris and Verna (Reames) Morris. Gerald grew up and attended school in Paris and as a young man, moved to the Ft. Smith area with his family. Following his education, Gerald later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he became employed as a union welder and pipefitter. Gerald spent several decades working as a union welder, including considerable work building nuclear power plants.
Gerald was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge and Moose Lodge and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Gerald is preceded in death by both his mother and father; his sister, Venoma Johnson; and his son, Jerry Morris.
He is survived by his son Larry Morris and wife Paula of Okmulgee; daughter, Cheryl Owens of Sand Springs; grandchildren: LaDonna Martin and husband Brad of Norman, Nicole Morris of Okmulgee, Michael Owens and Michelle Owens, both of Sand Springs; Daniel Morris and wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, and Jerry Morris II and wife Margaret Ann of Tulsa; five great grandchildren; other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Moore Family Cemetery, near Paris, Ark. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
