For two decades the Henryetta Education Foundation has been helping students with everything from scholarships to cultural events and even classroom projects.
Those 20 years were celebrated Saturday night at the annual Foundation dinner fundraiser.
HEF president James McCullough told the nearly 200 people attending that, since its inception, some $67,000 in scholarships have been awarded and over $25,000 given each year to the schools through teacher grants. "This year we were able to fund all the grants for teachers," he said.
Monies for those scholarships and grants come through donations and endowments. "We have a goal of $500,000 to establish a permanent endowment," he said.
The highlight of the dinner was the auction, both live and silent that brought in several thousand dollars for the group.
Diane Agee was the winner of the OKC Thunder tickets drawing. The gift includes a dinner for two and carriage ride in Oklahoma City.
Winning the Branson getaway was Kent Pharoah. Along with the lodging, there are dinners at the Dixie Stampede and tickets to Silver Dollar City.
