Henryetta high school has added another state champion to the roster of winners.
Rhett Williams lifted his way to the heavyweight state title at the 2017 powerlifting state meet at Prague this past weekend.
Williams recorded a total of 1,475 pounds in the three categories. He posted 530 in squat, 335 bench and deadlifted 610 pounds to take the top spot on the platform.
Three other Knights, Blake VanMeter, Jordan Proctor and Kobe Johnson, won the right to be part of the state meet.
VanMeter placed tenth in the 181 pound competition, Proctor was 23rd in 157 and Johnson placed 20th out of 30 contestants in the 145 pound class.
“These kids did great,” said coach Darin Johnson. “They worked hard every day and earned the opportunity to go to state.”
He said Williams’ finish was, “awesome. He was a great leader all year long and his hard work paid off with that state win.”
