The HHS boys took third in the annual John Philippe Invitation track meet Friday. There were 19 teams from all over eastern Oklahoma competing in the meet that honors long-time Henryetta track and field booster John Philippe. He died in an accidental fall in 2011 and the following year the school dedicated the annual event after him.
Henryetta athletes took first and second in the boys shot put, pole vault and 1600 meter relay events.
In the shotput, Sanford hurled the lead ball 42’8” followed by Wheeler nailing down second with a 41’6” throw.
The pole vault saw Key cross the bar at 9’6” and Johnson achieving 8’.
In the running events, Nick Pak finished sixth in the 400 meter dash and Watson was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. Lollis came in sixth in the 1600 meter run.
HHS girls tied for 14th with Hulbert in the overall scoring.
Skyla Notley placed second in the discus with an 81’10” throw while Kenna najera took sixth.
Notley also placed sixth in the girls shotput.
