Area adults are being invited to a Reality Party.
Sponsored by the OSU Prevention Program, the party will be held at a undisclosed location in Okmulgee March 6 starting at 5:30 p.m.
"Many adults feel drinking and drug use is a rite of passage and think teen parties are the same as when they were young," said Aaron Graffman, Drug Free Communities coordinator.
He explained teen actors will portray scenes of a party allowing adults to better understand the reality youth face today. Adults will also become aware of Oklahoma's Social Host law which puts a shared responsibility of underage drinking on the person providing the location.
"After each tour, we will facilitate a community dialogue with a panel to answer questions and discuss ideas for change, he added."
Parents, guardians, community members and professionals are encouraged to attend.
To be a part of the event, call 918-756-1248. A location and time will be provided when the reservations are made.
