A chase that started in Okmulgee and reached speeds over 120 miles per hour ended just south of the Tulsa County line early Wednesday morning.
Okmulgee County sheriff’s deputies were called about a suspicious vehicle on Skyline Drive around 8:30 a.m.
When officers approached the vehicle, the driver sped off, going through part of Okmulgee then turning onto US 75 and going north. The vehicle was traveling north in the southbound traffic lane nearly causing several accidents.
After chasing the car for a short time, deputies were able to force the vehicle off the roadway near the intersection of 231st. Street and US 75.
The driver, Levi James Jehoshaphat Womack, 19, was taken into custody. A juvenile female in the car was said to be a runaway from Tulsa and also turned over to juvenile authorities.
The car was said to have been stolen out of Okmulgee. No other vehicles were damaged as a result of the chase.
Womack was booked into the county jail on complaints of running a road block, driving the wrong way on a roadway, speeding, no drivers license, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, harboring a runaway and reckless driving.
