Rebecca Hold hosted the Okemah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution on Feb. 18 at Pepino's Restaurant in Okemah.
After the luncheon and the opening ritual the meeting was called to order by chapter Regent Velda Bradley and the usual order of business was followed. The State Conference will be held April 23-25 at the Embassy Suites in Norman. Velda Bradley and Ann Jackson will be the chapter's delegates at this annual conference.
Due to weather conditions the group was not able to have a program, as the speaker was unable to attend; however, those attending enjoyed visiting, exchanging ideas, and contributing items to the Veterans Administration Hospital. Each meeting members bring items that will help a veteran's stay in the VA hospital more enjoyable and comfortable: books, magazines, toiletries, socks, t-shirts, and underwear, etc. This year we are concentrating on women veterans and meeting their needs.
Members present were Ann Jackson, Pat Barr, Dorothy Burden, Theo Crawley, Mary June Cashman, Joy Hlavaty, Sherrie Case, Norma J. White; prospective members Linda Tillman and Geneva Bertges; and hostess Rebecca Hold and Regent Velda Bradley.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 17, at 11:30 a.m. at Pepino's Restaurant in Okemah. The chapter will be celebrating Women's History Month and will be honored to have State Regent, Dr. Orriene First Denslow as guest speaker.
Any woman 18 years old or older who can prove she is descended from a Revolutionary War Soldier or Patriot is eligible to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. Prospective members are welcome to attend the meetings. Contact Regent Velda Jo Bradley, 918-623-1550, or Registrar Rebecca Hold,
