The high probability of storms and rain Friday and Saturday caused organizers of the Henryetta Home Pride Weekend to reschedule plans for a townwide cleanup.
Project chair Kyle Kiner sent word out Monday morning that the cleanup will be held Aug. 25 and 26.
“We are facing a major flooding rain event,” he said. “I think that would prevent all our volunteers from getting the effect we wanted.” He wenton to say anyone who wants to get rid of tree limbs can take them to the Creek Nation Reintegration site on East Corporation Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
He pointed out by moving the date to the latter part of August, the town would be cleaned up in time for the annual labor Day festivities that draws in thousands of visitors.
“This way they will see a clean and neat town when they come.
Originally the clean up was going to be kicked off Friday with free hot dogs and trash bags handed out to the various teams and volunteers. Large dumpsters were going to be in place for residents to dispose of their trash.
“Everyone who set up teams and were preparing for the clean up effort are to be thanked for their work so far,” Kiner added.
