Henryetta city council members corrected a misunderstanding at a special council meeting this week.
In April, the council approved a $1.189 million bid for construction of a new water tower east of town. Part of the money for that work was going to come from a Community Development Block Grant. “We thought the Department of Commerce had released the funds but they had not,” said mayor Jennifer Clason. “Now we can accept the bid.”
DN Tanks will be the contractor for the million-gallon storage tank. A pre-stressed contract structure will replace the steel water tower that had served the town for over 60 years. An inspection of the old tank reveled structural problems calling for its replacement.
At the same meeting, the council approved a request for the Young Historians organizaton to sell concessions as a fund raiser during a July 1 Veterans March. That will be held at the civic center and is designed to bring government agencies as well as other organizations to help area veterans.
Following an executive session, council members adopted an undisclosed settlement with Jackson and Jackson Engineering. The decision removed the engineering firm from litigation as part of the lawsuit dealing with work at the water plant and river intake structure. That lawsuit is continuing against Mehlberger-Brawley.
Council members also approved purchasing a tractor for use at the water plant. Receiving the bid was Stewart-Martin Kubota in Okmulgee.
