Mickey Arnold Burns, a longtime resident of Hanna, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 63. Mickey was born Aug. 24, 1953 in Melette, Okla., to Bill Burns and Wanda Breazeale Burns.
Mickey lived in Melette until he was eight years old, and then moved to Hanna, with his family. Mickey grew up in Hanna and attended Hanna Public Schools. In 1973, Mickey joined the U.S. Army and he faithfully served until his honorable discharge. After military service, Mickey returned home to Oklahoma and married the love of his life, Anita Teafatiller Feb. 13, 1974 in Pineville, Louisiana. They remained happily devoted to one another for 43 years until his death.
Mickey spent most of his working life as a heavy equipment operator for a variety of companies including Don Howell Construction, Glover, and H.D. Youngman among others.
He is preceded in death by both his mother and father; five brothers and four sisters; and two great grandchildren.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Anita Burns of the home in Hanna; five daughters: Cindy Teafatiller of Muncie, IN, Linda Cox and husband Rocky of Hanna, Christina Speir of Hanna, Sharla VanBrunt and husband Clifford of Council Hills, and Lisa Cannon and husband Jeremiah of Hanna; a son, Delain Breshears and wife Mandy of Noble; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; three sisters: Ann Burns of Hanna, Brenda Free and husband Ray of Hanna, and Deanda Sherill and husband Ronnie of Ada; by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family, and many good friends.
Viewing for Mickey will be held at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta on Friday, June 2, 2017 from noon until 8 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at the New Hope Church in Vernon, Okla., with Rev. Jeremiah Cannon officiating, assisted by Rev. Anderson Fields.
Interment will be held at the Burns Family Cemetery in Hanna under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Arcell Cannon, Ronnie Casey, Josh Breshears, Jerry Breshears, Cody Breshears, Bub Burns, J.P. Layman, and Rocky Cox. Honorary bearers will be Isaiah Cannon, Delain Breshears, Jeremiah Cannon, Anthony Monroe, Cody Berryhill, Steven Kennedy, Eric Coley, and Justin Breshears.
