“Golf is a sport that you can take with you for years.”
That is the admonition given by summer golf camp coach Dutch VandenBorn to the nearly 50 youngsters as the camp gets underway this year.
The camp is held each Tuesday and Thursday at the Henryetta golf course and is open to children and teens from six to 17 years old.
“We teach the kids the fundamentals of how to hold a club and let them learn chipping and putting,“ he said. The older students get to also spend time learning how to hit the ball on longer shots.
For those wanting to see if they would like the sport but don’t want to invest in a set of clubs, VandenBorn said there are some clubs available.
The free camp is sponsored by the Henryetta golf club, Henryetta Lions and Thehenryettan.com
