chelsea headingAs I have mentioned in an earlier email, after days and days of fighting with a computer and then giving up, I am having to start all over. No, make that “page 2” as I have had a Mac before but now I have a completely different one. Of course, very little of the (so called) knowledge I had amassed (don't you just love that word) would transfer to the new system. It has been more than a week since I obtained this new-to-me computer and trying to learn enough to start sending again. Starting with the failure of computer#1 to the acquisition of my new/used computer was an exercise devised by Satan and many of his evil minions. It proved the theory that computers were placed on Earth to punish us lesser beings who foolishly thought we were advanced. It seems that I have joined the crowd of those who have failed evolution class. Yes, I thought I was doing so well. Oh, well (insert sigh here).
There have been some problems along the way and those of you who are not computer experts, nor aspire to “live” on your computer, know what I mean. It only took way too much money (!), one session with an Apple specialist and then two sessions with another repairguy. It also took the better part of four weeks, maybe five. But, here I am and really glad I can be here. If you are reading this you will know that I have had some measure of success. My original address book is lost in a flash drive and, so far, I have been unable to retrieve it. It seems the difference between Windows 10 and Mac OS grows as time passes and competition gets more heated to make things other systems cannot use. Shouldn’t there be a standard?
But now, as Monty Python would say, something completely different, I want to do a blog. Yessir, at one time I did have a blog but it didn't behave any better than my other computer. As I could not get what I wanted from it, I gave up. Just very recently I attempted to access and write on that site with less than admirable success. It told me I was not allowed. All I wanted was to write, have a place for people to leave comments and keep updating on my schedule. Later, not long ago, I checked in again and found it almost impossible to get into. So, if you have any knowledge of a good place to post a blog, please share. Our whole staff will be grateful. Please send to This email address is being protected from spambots. There was only one negative comment on the mailing I sent out when the problems really got started and before the almost total crash. This from a person I know well and he sorta fussed at me for having an old MAC. He obviously is not a retired Oklahoma teacher as any Apple product is expensive and the State of Oklahoma does not like or approve of teachers. Our state legislature is working hard for our children’s education future in Oklahoma. Our state now pays 51st of the 50 states and Washington D.C. So, we can proudly cheer, “WE”RE NUMBER 1” over and over. Of course, we mean we are #1 when you start counting from the bottom. But, to make up for that our state legislature and the Governor have seen to it that our higher ed systems are #1, Just in today’s paper there was a head line that Oklahoma had more cuts to higher ed than any other state. A preacher friend from sometime in the past once told me a saying that was muttered among ministers. He said the parishioners would say, “You keep him humble, Lord, we’ll keep him poor.” As our State Legislators are obviously religious, this is probably their opening prayer for every session. But enough about that as I do not want you people in other states to get to feeling too good before your legislature opens in a few weeks. Your men and women may look at Oklahoma and say, “Hey! We can do that.” We Okies may have started a trend.
I am keeping this short today and will have more to say next week. Again, for the people who were not on the original list, I sincerely hope you stay on the list, but if you wish not to, after I cry, wail and threaten to jump off a tall ladder, I shall sadly remove your name. Oh, I may also cut you from my will. Now I am going to start a search to see if I can find the last 20+ years of and furthermore. See you next week.
