summer food program

The last two days of the summer children's food program was celebrated Wednesday with some 40 school backpacks being handed out. Members of the First Baptist Church presented the children with their gifts as well as a delicious meal at McCutcheon Park at noon. Church members have fed over 1,100 children this summer. That meal included sandwiches, juice, chips and fruit cups. This year, the First Baptist and First United Methodist Church were the two sites for the program. The Methodist Church provided meals to over 600 youngsters during the program that started in June and gave away 40 backpacks with school supplies Wednesday.
